Rhetorical Ad Analyzing

The exigence in this ad is that we should use hand sanitizer because we don’t know where our hands have really been. The purpose is to use this hand sanitizer so that you will have cleaner hands. The audience is the general audience- anyone who touches anything in public. The context is that we don’t know how many other people have touched what we are touching.
The appeals:
Logos: It states that this hand sanitizer kills 99.99% of germs
This ad could play on your ethos and pathos by making you feel dirty that you have touched something that you have no clue how many other people have touched. This ad also gets your attention quick because it is a little grotesque and really makes you think about how clean your hands really are. I think this ad is very effective…it’s making me want to put some hand sanitizer on right now!

  1. You defined the exigence and logos very well however I don’t think this is an ad directed towards pathos as much as it is towards ethos. It appeals more towards ethos because it is unethical to hold someone’s dirty hand while utilizing public transportation. It is also unethical to have dirty hands.
